The annual Golden Disc Awards took place at Gocheok Skydome on January 4 and 5 this year. The event recognizes the best digital releases and physical album release of the past year.
The first day, January 4, the digital releases were awarded. BTS took home the 'Digital Sond Division Bonsang' and 'Song of the Year Digital Daesang.'
On January 5, the physical album releases were awarded. the septet took home the daesang for 'Album of the Year' as well as 'Album Division Bonsang,' K-Pop Star Award' and TikTok Golden Disc Popularity Award.'
Overall, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook bags six awards. They became the first artists to win the daesang in both categories in the same year.
The group's leader, RM said in his acceptance speech, "Golden Disc Awards is our last awards show of the 2010s, as well as our first awards show of the 2020s. This is all thanks to our fans. Thank you. Last year was such a happy year. We worked hard, and we also rested. I remember when I first met PD Bang Si Hyuk in the spring of 2010. Since then, for the past 10 years, our 2010s were filled to the brim with the name BTS. In the 2020s, we hope that by our side, the space will be filled to the brim with ARMY. We will write this book in your name."
